Several times I have been out to take photographs for exercise 4 and exercise 9. For both these exercises I needed to be outside in an open space, thought finding that space would be easy but no. Parking up in chosen location, tripod set up attracts the locals to me like bees to a honey pot....
Whilst trying to take the photographs, showing movement. I parked along on the roadside, on a sandy area, beachside, protected by stone gazebo, to give me shade. I was the novelty, and as drivers spotted me they slowed down, stopping to ask where I am from? welcoming me to Oman, and the usual greetings of Sa'eeda (greetings) or Kayf Halick (how are you?) hence some of my practise images have shots of driver with mobile phone in hand or waving out of a window at me and no movement as they have virtually come to a standstill.
Children come along and would much rather you take their photographs.....
Yesterday on the rough ground by the roundabout, it happens again, young drivers opening their windows, slowing down, waving and shouting as passing, Marhaba (hi)
When I go out there to work on Panning, I must hide or be prepared to be disturbed by the inquisitive.
I had thought that for my assignment 1, for the contrast WEAK, I would take a photograph of a crushed, twisted road barrier, there are plenty here, but I am very aware that placing myself in the centre of a highway will probably cause a secondary accident, and sadly there are enough traffic accidents in Oman for me to now realise that I am going to have to rethink WEAK.
